The opening weekend, for many people their first introduction to the women’s game, featured sold-out crowds and bruising encounters in all of the four games on display.
The district can lay claim to its own piece of the historic first game on Friday night between old foes Carlton and Collingwood at Ikon Park, with local connections to those both playing in, and umpiring the match.
Sarah Hosking, 2016 coach of Euroa’s A Grade netball side, took to the field for the Blues.
Hosking set the tone of the match with a big hit on Collingwood’s Brittany Bonnici in the opening five seconds of the game.
